French famous people.


Zineiden zidane

Born: 23 June 1972
Birthplace: Marseille, France
Best known as: The MVP of World Cup 1998
A flashy midfielder, Zinedine Zidane won the Golden Ball as the most valuable player in the World Cups of 1998 and 2006. Zidane played his first professional First Division game for Cannes in 1991 and quickly rose through the professional ranks. He sealed his reputation by scoring two goals in the World Cup finals of 1998, helping France defeat Brazil to claim its first-ever World Cup championship. Zidane played for professional powerhouse Juventus from 1996 until 2001, when he was acquired by Real Madrid for 46 million pounds, a record fee. (By 2003 his teammates) Zidane was named FIFA player of the year in 1998, 2000, and 2003. He retired from professional soccer after leading France to the finals of the 2006 World Cup.


Audrey Tautou:
Audrey Justine Tautou was born in Beaumont, France in 1976. The most famous character that this film actress has interpreted is Amelie Poulain in the French-German production Le fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain Amélie 2001 by the French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who also chose her as the leading actress for his film Un Long dimanche de fiançailles A very long engagement in 2004. After the success of Amelie she gained world fame and co-starred The American film The Da Vinci code with Tom Hanks. She recently interpreted Madame Chanel in the film Coco avant Chanel Coco before Chanel, and she’s also been the advertising face of the fragrance Chanel No.5. She’s part of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences since 2006.


Claude Lévi-Strauss:
He was born in Brussels, Belgium, in 1908 and died in Paris in 2009. Known as the father of modern anthropology, he was considered one of the most important French ethnologist and anthropologists, as well as the founder and one of the main figures of the structuralism. In 1973, he became a member of the French Academy. One of his best known works is Tristes trophies  1955.
